Trichomonads are parasites and need a warm and humid environment to survive. Transmission occurs through sexual contact. Men usually have no signs of the disease. Women may have a slight inflammation of the vagina with sometimes foamy, yellowish discharge. It usually takes 4 days to 3 weeks between infection and the first signs of illness.
