Here at the checkin Zollhaus, we sometimes hear: “It’s no use for me to get vaccinated against HPV (human papillomavirus); I’ve already had my first sexual contacts”.

This is not so true, because:

  • Even with first sexual contacts, transmission of HPV need not have occurred yet.
  • The HPV vaccine (Gardasil-9®) protects against the 9 HPV subtypes that most commonly trigger genital warts and HPV-associated cancers. Even after first sex, there is potential for vaccine protection
  • This is why health insurance companies pay for the HPV vaccination up to the 27th birthday.
  • HPV vaccination is excellently tolerated. The costs are completely covered (you pay CHF 0.00).
